Jason Abitz
Jason began his fire service career in the Midwest working alongside his brother. He has been on the job with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue for 20 years and is a Shift Captain responsible for leading the men and women of Company 24. Throughout his career, Jason has served in both operational and administrative positions to include a 3-year stint assigned to the department’s Field Training Section where he helped develop the reality-based training ideology used to train the 1600 member department. Throughout the last seven years Jason has been one of the program developers for the departments Professional Development Training Section. He has helped train the organizations 400+ officers in the areas of leadership and tactical competency. He is a lead instructor with Performance Under Pressure and has lectured at venues such as the IAFC’s FRI conference, the Virginia Fire and Rescue Conference, Bridgeport Fire Expo and regionally in Northern Virginia for the Riding the Seat seminar series. Jason has also served as a Hands-on-Training instructor at FDIC for Drilling at the Speed of Flashover.
